Georges Santos has backed Town to go up despite seeing his QPR side take three points at Portman Road.

The Marseille-born player spent just over a year at Portman Road before joining Rangers at the start of the season and impressed throughout the Londoners' 2-0 win.

Speaking to the Club website after the game Georges said: "We deserved to win but I still expect Ipswich to go up.

"They have some quality players and are likely to come back from the defeat against us and win at Wigan next week.

"We had a game plan today which involved the front two players dropping off and stopping Jim Magilton play.

"I know how important he is to Ipswich and so does the gaffer and the tactics worked really well.

"We had chances to have scored a second goal before we did but I think we definitely deserved the win."

Santos was also delighted with the reception he got from the fans and added: "You are never sure how the supporters will take to you when you come back to your old club.

"I was really pleased though. Everyone knows I loved my time at Ipswich but I wanted regular first team football and I've got that at Rangers."
