Shefki Kuqi is desperate to get back into match action and is making progress every day but accepts that he must listen to the experts before lining up for Town again.

The Finnish international was given the go-ahead to step up his rehab at the start of the week as he recovers from a gashed thigh sustained in the win over Leicester last month and has been tipped for a return to first-team duty in two weeks.

Shefki had an operation to clean up the deep wound on the night of the Leicester game, then returned home to Finland to spend some time with his family.

He's now back at the training ground where he has been working with fitness coach Simon Thadani and Club physio Dave Williams - and driving them both mad!

Shefki - back scoring
goals soon he hopes

"I have been giving them a hard time because I am so keen to get out there and help the lads," Shefki told the Club website.

"Things are improving all the time and I know I'm a quick healer but it's the first time I've had an injury like this and I know it has to be properly healed inside before I can start playing again.

"I feel I am ready to go and do this and do that but these guys know their job and I have to be guided by what they say.

"It's been a very frustrating time for me though. I'm not a good watcher and have found it very difficult sitting up in the stands.

"The worst thing is matchday itself. I know what the routine of the players will be, their preparation but when you are injured and not playing, you have no routine yourself.

"The injury came at a bad time for me personally as well. I was scoring goals and felt good but these things happen in football and you have to deal with it.

"Now I just want to get out there and do my bit to help the team win promotion but I can only do that when the experts tell me I'm ready."
