Nike Cup success for kids
Academy coach Tony Humes has praised the Town youngsters who reached the Final of the Nike Cup before losing to Arsenal.
A combination of U14s and U15s took part in the prestigious tournament played at Warwick University with Blues beating a string of Premiership clubs along the way to the showdown with the Gunners.
"The boys played four group matches of 40 minutes each over two days which was testing enough for them," Tony told the Club website.
"We came through that with two wins and two draws and then went on to beat Middlesbrough and Manchester City in the Quarter-Final and Semi-Final before going down 2-0 in the Final.
"It was a great experience for the boys and they really conducted themselves well during the competition.
"It wasn't just the results that pleased us either, it was the manner of the football the boys played.
"They really knocked the ball around well in true Ipswich Town style against opposition of a good standard that included mainly Premiership clubs so they can be very proud of what they achieved."
