Drissa steps up recovery

Posted on: Tue 19 Apr 2005

Drissa Diallo continues his comeback from a hamstring injury tonight when he lines up for the reserves against Chelsea at Portman Road.

The Guinea international has been sidelined since snapping a tendon in his hamstring while training before the Wigan game in December.

He played 45 minutes for Steve McCall's side in the 1-0 defeat by Leicester reserves in January but was still troubled by the injury with scar tissue not strong enough to handle the rigours of competitive football day in, day out.

Drissa came through his first game back since then, against Charlton last week, without any problems though and is making good progress.

Having been a regular at right-back for the first-team before his injury, he could yet feature in the senior side before Town's season is over.

If Blues finish the League campaign outside the top two places then on-loan full-back David Unsworth will be unavailable for the Play-Offs as he will have to return to Portsmouth after the final Championship fixture at Brighton on May 8.

Also in action for the reserves against Chelsea, kick-off 7.00pm,  will be Matt Richards and James Scowcroft, who were both on the bench for the draw with Sunderland on Sunday.
