Alan Ferguson's Portman Road pitch has been voted the best in the Championship for the second successive season.

Town's head groundsman picks up the Football League award to add to his growing collection but it's the first time he has enjoyed back to back success.

"We're obviously thrilled that the pitch has come out on top again and it's testimony to all the hard work the team has put in through the year," Alan told the Club website.

"We've had a lot of matches to deal with this year and how often the pitch is used is considered when the marks are handed out.

"It's the first time we have won the award in successive years as well so we have to be delighted with that achievement."

Portman Road has hosted approaching 50 games this season with reserve team and FA Youth Cup fixtures played on the main pitch as well as 23 Championship games.
