Top three at least

Posted on: Wed 27 Apr 2005

Town are assured of a minimum of a third place finish following Derby's defeat at Leicester.

The Rams were the only team that could have topped Blues' current total of 81 points from the teams below the Club in the Championship table but are now eight points adrift with only two games to play.

Should Town finish third in the Championship race, it means the Club will play the sixth placed side in the Play-Off Semi-Finals, with the away leg first.

Wigan, who are two points clear of Blues in second place, face Preston at Deepdale on Saturday and finish their fixtures with a home game against Reading, both clubs battling to qualify for the Play-Offs.

The Latics look certain to be without Brett Ormerod for those matches. The striker has been recalled by Southampton from his loan spell at the JJB.
