Charlie Sheringham will be staying at Portman Road for at least another year after impressing the coaching staff while on a short term trial at the Club.

The 17-year-old son of former England and Manchester United striker and now West Ham frontman, Teddy, was given six months to impress Town boss Joe Royle and Academy Director Bryan Klug after arriving at the Club before Christmas.

He has done just that and is clearly delighted with the offer of another 12 months at Portman Road.

"That was my aim when I came here and I'm thrilled to be staying," Charlie told the Club website.

Charlie - another year at Town

"I love it at Ipswich. Everyone has made me welcome from day one and helped me settle in and now I've got some great friends as well as a chance to make a career in the game.

"Being a professional footballer is what I want to do and Ipswich have given me the platform to go out and do that. It's up to me now to take that opportunity."

Charlie, who was released by Tottenham last year, was a member of Town's successful FA Youth Cup winning side of 2005.
