The million match

Posted on: Thu 12 May 2005

Town's Play-Off Semi-Final against West Ham will be worth at least a £1m to the winner confirms Blues' chief executive Derek Bowden.

Speaking to the Club website, Derek said: "The four clubs in the Play-Offs will each receive about £250,000.

"Getting to the Final in Cardiff though would take that income up to a minimum of £1m.

"It's been tradition now over the last four years that the winners of the Final donate their half of the proceeds from the game to the losing side, that's normally about £750,000."

The winner of the Play-Off Final would stand to receive a cash injection of £20m for a place in the Premiership and Derek adds: "That's why it's the richest prize in world football."
