SELECTION DILEMMA FOR BOSS
Jim Magilton faces choices all through his team on Saturday as Blues take on Burnley at Turf Moor.
David Wright misses out with an ankle injury and David Norris and new signing Ivan Campo are not match fit but the Town boss faces a selection dilemma after the impressive midweek Carling Cup win over Leyton Orient.
With only three wins away from home last season, Jim has hinted that he will consider that strongly when making a decision on his starting X1.
"The mentality of us at the moment is that we should be very hard to beat and pick a team accordingly," he says.
"We have a problem when we haven't got the ball at times - we switch off. Collectively we probably put more pressure on our goalkeeper and back four than we should and that's something we have to sort out.
"We brought in experienced players that will help and we have a decent squad now. We have options but I know my side for Burnley. I knew on Tuesday night."
Ben Thatcher could be in line to make his debut for Town after joining the Club on a two year deal and at 32 and having played in the Premier League for most of his career, he will supply some of that experience Jim has been looking for.
"Ben will give us something extra in the dressing-room and on the pitch," says Jim.
"He will help the youngsters as well. The lads know him from the Northern Ireland trip and he was a great help out there.
"He is probably a little bit short on match fitness but he will come straight into the squad for the Burnley game."
Burnley are likely to include new signings Chris Eagles and Martin Paterson in their line-up as the Clarets, like Blues, look to get off the mark in the Championship after an opening day defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.
"It probably shocked them last week going to Sheffield and losing. They will be looking to bounce back," adds Jim.
"Paterson is someone who I would have probably gone in and tried to get but Burnley beat us to the punch. He was very lively here last season with Scunthorpe and scored two goals. He can be a real threat.
"Burnley had a good win in the cup like us and I'm sure they will hope to come out of the blocks firing on all cylinders. We have to withstand the early pressure, be strong and get a result."
