TOMMY NOT OUT FOR REVENGE

Posted on: Fri 16 Mar 2012

Tommy Smith has reiterated that tomorrow's game with Peterborough is not about earning 'revenge'.

Blues suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat to Posh at London Road in August, with the New Zealand international being dismissed inside 90 seconds of coming on as a half-time substitute.

But Town- and Tommy- have moved on from that defeat and are treating tomorrow's game as any other and hoping to make it four successive home wins.

"Obviously the game up at Peterborough was one to forget but it's not about getting 'revenge' or anything like that, we just treating it as a normal game," the defender told the Club website.

"We want to win the game, of course, and that is what we're aiming to do after some recent good performances on the road.

"I think it shows the character of the side right now, coming from behind in the last two games at two difficult places.

"The boys were delighted with the results and the way we've been playing recently as a whole, so that breeds confidence throughout the whole squad.

"We've gone back to basics somewhat and it seems to be working for us. Now we want to build on these recent performances and get a win in front of fans against Peterborough tomorrow."

You can hear more from Tommy in tomorrow's matchday programme, as well as his defensive partner Damien Delaney. The programme is also available to purchase online at http://itfc.clubprogramme.co.uk/

Team news

Paul Jewell is sweating on the fitness of last week's two-goal hero Grant Leadbitter, who was forced off with a slight groin injury during the weekend draw with Hull at the KC Stadium. The midfielder should recover in time to return to the starting line-up, although Ryan Stevenson, Luke Hyam and the fit-again Lee Bowyer are waiting in the wings. Jimmy Bullard has returned following his Club suspension, although won't be considered for selection against Peterborough.

Posh manager Darren Ferguson is expected to name an unchanged starting 11 for the game at Portman Road, after an impressive 3-1 home victory over Blackpool in their last outing. Lee Tomlin, Paul Taylor and Grant McCann are all expected to feature, with the trio doing the damage the last time the two sides met, back in August, scoring seven goals between them in a 7-1 win.
