HEAVEN OR HULL!
Jim Magilton says he has been satisfied with Town's progress this season but admits not reaching the Play-Offs would hit him hard.
Town need a win against promotion chasing Hull in front of a near full house at Portman Road on Sunday to have a chance of finishing in the top six.
Three points for Blues and defeats for two from Crystal Palace, Watford or Wolves will see Jim take his side into the Play-Offs.
"This time last season we had a pretty meaningless game against Cardiff to play, with professional pride and a result to take into the summer at stake only at stake," Jim tells Ipswich World.
"Now we are 90 minutes away from the Play-Offs perhaps so from that perspective I have to be satisfied with the progress we have made.
"To go into the last week of the season with a chance of finishing in the top six shows that we have made a steady improvement.
"We finished strongly at home last season and we have carried that form on all through this year, but on our travels we have been very disappointing. That is something that we have to put right.
"So while I'm reasonably happy with the progress we have made, we have a long way to go before we are where we want to be.
"I'll be very disappointed if we don't make it to the Play-Offs to be honest. Like most managers in the Championship, I think I'll look at it as an opportunity lost.
"But we will sit down at the end of the season and analyse the year. Look at the last nine months from a critical perspective. Then we will move forward.
"Plans are already being put into place to strengthen the squad. We have watched a lot of games lately and we have our targets, whatever division we are in. We need to be in a position to strike and get players in for pre-season.
"They have to be the right players, though, players who will buy into what we are trying to achieve here. Inevitably there will be departures as well. That is part and parcel of football."
While Town need the points to have a top six chance, victory for Hull could see them promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their 104 year history and the Tigers will be cheered on by a 2000 plus backing.
The game will be close to a full house with the Club calling on the Blue Army to get behind the team by holding aloft blue cards before kick-off in the same way as at the Norwich match.
"The fans have a part to play and we need them as loud as ever on Sunday," adds the boss.
"It's a cliché but they can be the 12th man and we need that 12th man against Hull."
Town have no new injury worries with only David Norris (heel) and Richard Naylor (neck) out. Hull are likely to include former Blue, Wayne Brown, in their side.
Kick-off at Portman Road is 2pm. No cash turnstiles on the day although tickets will be available to personal callers to the ticket office, if still left. Fans are advised to arrive early.
The match is shown on Sky TV on their interactive service. Subscribers to Ipswich World can watch a full match preview in today's edition of Town TV News.
