JIM WELCOMES GIO ARRIVAL
Jim Magilton has told the Club website that Giovani Dos Santos will be in contention to make his Town debut against Reading at the weekend.
The 19-year-old Mexico international has joined the Club from Tottenham for the rest of the season and goes straight into the squad for the trip to the Madejski Stadium with the paperwork now completed over the move.
With Jon Walters sidelined for the rest of the campaign with ruptured ankle ligaments, Town have moved fast to add to the attacking options with the loan signing of the former Barcelona player.
"Losing Jon is obviously a blow for us and we wanted to bring in someone to replace him and I'm delighted that we have managed to do that so quickly," Jim told the Club website.
"Gio has got a great pedigree having been at Barcelona and playing 30 odd games for them and I know there was a lot of interest in him last summer.
"He's played games for Tottenham in the Premier League and in Europe and he will bring some added quality to the squad.
"He is with us for the rest of the season and will go straight into the squad for the Reading game and be in contention to play."
David Wright and David Norris are both included in the squad and are likely to have a fitness test before Town confirm the 16. Both players picked up injuries in the draw at Wolves. Gareth McAuley returns after suspension.
Town beat Reading 2-0 at Portman Road earlier in the season and Jim admits he would welcome the same level of performance at the weekend.
"Reading at home was probably as well as we have played this season and if we can get to that level on Saturday, then great." adds the Town boss.
"We know they are a very good side and I have a lot of respect for Steve Coppell. They do things the same way and won't change and that's one of the reasons why they have been fairly consistent this season.
"They play at a high tempo and use the multi ball system to their advantage and we have to be aware of that but we are looking forward to the game and won't be intimidated by going there."
Reading have Dave Kitson and Glen Little available after they both returned to the Madejski Stadium on loan this week, having left for Stoke and Portsmouth in the summer.
