A youth at Blackburn before joining Bolton, where he made a handful of appearances in the first team. Loan spells at Hull, Crewe and Barnsley followed before he joined Hull in 2004. The Tigers reluctantly let him go a year later so he could move closer to his family and he joined Wrexham and then Chester in the summer of 2006 before Town came knocking on his door in January 2007. Made his debut in the goalless draw at Stoke and scored his first goal for the Club against QPR in March of that year. Capped by the Republic of Ireland at B and U21 level. Supporters' Player of the Year in 2007/08.
