Born: 15th May 1976 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland
Began his career at Millwall before moving to Liverpool in a £1.5m deal in March 1995. He spent three seasons at Anfield, then had a year at Wimbledon following a £1.75m transfer. Manchester City signed him for another £1m fee in July 1999 and he spent two years with City before heading to Wolves in a £2m switch. The 34-year-old made close on 200 appearances for the Molineux club, then spent two years at Crystal Palace and two more at Cardiff, holding down a regular spot on the left side of the Bluebirds' defence. He was in the Cardiff side beaten by Blackpool in the Championship Play-Off Final in 2010. Capped 34 times by the Republic of Ireland, he signed a two year contract at Portman Road in the summer of 2010.
