Started his career at Crewe where he made over 200 League appearances before moving on to Wigan in the summer of 2004. Helped the Latics win promotion to the Premiership and spent two and a half years at the JJB, then heading to Portman Road in January 2007. Scored his first goal for the Club in the 1-1 draw at Norwich in April 2007. Had a brief loan spell at Carrow Road in the 2005/06 term.
