STEVENAGE 0 TOWN 8

Posted on: Wed 06 May 2009
Connor Wickham grabbed a hat-trick as a young reserves side finished the season in style.

The 16-year-old striker gave Blues the lead on 10 minutes after good work by Dean Bowditch, with Ed Upson - who spent two months on loan at Stevenage earlier this term - adding a second on 18 minutes.

Wickham extended the lead on the half hour mark and then completed his hat-trick just before the break after robbing the 'keeper.

Bowditch made it five early in the second-half, firing in from 12 yards with Tom Eastman adding a sixth on 50 minutes with a close range finish. Ronan Murray got in on the goalscoring act  with a seventh following a solo run on 65 minutes.

Eastman completed the scoring five minutes from time after Wickham's header had been parried by the 'keeper.
