CLUB TRIBUTE TO SIR BOBBY

Posted on: Wed 05 Aug 2009
Club Chief Executive Simon Clegg has paid tribute to the memory of Sir Bobby Robson on behalf of Ipswich Town Football Club.

Sir Bobby passed away this morning after a brave battle against cancer.

"This is a very sad day for Ipswich Town Football Club and the world of football in general," said Simon.

"Sir Bobby was held in the highest esteem within the local community and in particular by generations of supporters of this Football Club and will be greatly missed by all. On behalf of Ipswich Town, I would like to send our deepest sympathies to Sir Bobby's family."

Flags are flying at half mast at Portman Road in memory of Sir Bobby  and there will be a Book of Remembrance opened at the Centre Spot on Portman Road from 3pm this afternoon.

Supporters are invited to lay floral tributes at Sir Bobby's statue at the ground and there will be two minutes silence before tonight's game against Real Valladolid, which kicks-off at 7.30pm.

The players will wear black armbands.

The Book of Remembrance will be available from 3pm to 6pm today and will be available over the weekend from 9am until 6pm.

Sir Bobby passed away this morning aged 76 after a lengthy battle against cancer.
