BOSS | WE'LL PLAY OUR WAY

28 December 2018

“I’m not into launching the ball down the pitch. We have got an identity to the way we want to play"

Paul Lambert says his team will stick to their passing principles as Blues finish 2018 against one of the promotion favourites.

Middlesbrough host Town at the Riverside on Saturday looking to push their promotion credentials while Blues will be hoping to close the gap on safety at the foot of the table.

“Middlesbrough are one of teams I’d look at as being there or thereabouts at the end of the season and people won’t be expecting us to get anything up there,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“We will be going up there to win though. It’s the only way I know.

"At QPR, we gave the ball away for their first goal but I’ll take that on my shoulders. I’ve asked the players to play my way - to pass the ball. If there is a mistake made trying to do that, no problem. Just learn from it.

“I’m not into launching the ball down the pitch. We have got an identity to the way we want to play through all levels at the Club. It’s a blueprint for the future. It will take time but some of the football we have played has been terrific. We’ve got to turn that into results.”
