TOWN U18S 2 PALACE 2

27 January 2018

Lankester on target again as Town share spoils

Jack Lankester and Kian Ronan were on the scoresheet as Blues drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace at Playford Road.

Lankester’s first-half strike levelled things up, while Ronan’s effort gave Town a short lead before being pegged back by a superb free-kick after the break.

Palace started on the front foot and took the lead in the 10th minute as James Daly raced clear of the Town defence before slotting past Mitchell Ware.

But Blues responded just two minutes later. Lankester with a first-time finish having latched on to a loose ball in the penalty area.

The hosts looked the stronger side for the remainder of the half with Ben Knight’s curling effort striking the post before Lankester hit the crossbar.

Palace had one chance just before the break, David Boateng producing a mazy run but failing to test Ware as the two sides went in level.

Alan Lee’s side took a deserved lead in the 64th minute when Ronan collected a lovely through ball before firing into the bottom corner.

The advantage lasted just five minutes though as Joseph Hungbo found the top corner with a fiercely struck free-kick to level for the Eagles.

Blues pressed for a winner late on but some resilient defending from the visitors saw the spoils shared.
