Adeyemi set for more 23s football at Portman Road this evening

Blues midfielder, Tom Adeyemi will look to improve his match fitness even further as he's named as part of the U23 squad that will face Barnsley at Portman Road this evening (kick-off 7pm).

Dean Gerken and Danny Rowe are also part of Gerard Nash's squad as the Blues look to make it four wins from their first five U23 matches this season.

Ben Folami, who has scored three times so far including a late winner at Hillsborough last weekend, will also be involved, as will Conor McKendry who has recently returned from Northern Ireland U21 duty.

Town currently sit third in the southern group of the Professional Development League with nine points gained thus far.

REPORT | TOWN U23 3 BARNSLEY 0

11 September 2017

Blues comfortably beat Barnsle

Tom Adeyemi got another 80 minutes of football under his belt as Town's U23s continued their great start to the new season with a 3-0 win over Barnsley.

Danny Rowe, Ben Folami and Conor McKendry got the goals meaning Town have won four of their opening five fixtures.

The Blues started slowly, but grew into the game as it progressed and took the lead with just under 15 minutes on the clock.

Danny Rowe got it, and it was a tremendous finish from the winger as he cut inside before lashing the ball high into the net from the edge of the box.

Adeyemi came close to a goal himself as he arrived late to meet a Folami cross, but it was well held low by the Tykes' keeper.

Town took the lead into the break, but the visitors could have equalised minutes after the restart, but Gerken did well to parry clear an effort from Matthew Wolfe.

That save proved to be important as the Blues doubled their lead soon after, with Folami making it four U23 goals for the season as he cut in off the left before keeping a cool head to slot into the far corner.

Barnsley did come close to pulling one back through Amir Berkovits but he missed the target from close range after a deep cross had evaded everyone.

It was Town who were on the scoresheet next, though, as substitute Conor McKendry added a third and killed the game off, jinxing through the crowd in the box before squeezing the ball past the 'keeper as Gerard Nash's side made it three wins in a row.

Town: Gerken, D. Crowe (Ndaba, 78), Woolfenden, C. Smith, Webber (McKendry, 83), Rowe, Adeyemi (Foudil, 83), Blanchfield, McLoughlin, Morris, Folami. Not used: M. Crowe, Patterson.

Goals: Rowe(13) Folami (54) McKendry (89)
