U23 | SHEFFIELD WED V TOWN

1 September 2017

Town's U23s look to build on 3-2 win over Sheffield United on Tuesday against the Blades' Steel City rivals tomorrow

Tom Adeyemi will look to build up his fitness ahead of a first-team return as Town's U23s take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough tomorrow (kick-off 12pm).

The midfielder played over an hour in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Sheffield United at Portman Road, and will travel to South Yorkshire as he tries to prove himself ready to return to Mick McCarthy's squad for next Saturday's Championship game with QPR.

Another two who played in midweek, Bersant Celina and Danny Rowe, will also play a part tomorrow, as will Ben Folami and Luke Woolfenden, who both scored against the Blades.

Gerard Nash's side have won two of their opening three league matches so far this season and currently sit 6th in the Professional Development League (southern group).

U23 REPORT | SHEFF WED 1 TOWN 2

2 September 2017

Young Blues make it 2 wins in a week as they see off Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough

Ben Folami grabbed a late winner as Town's U23s saw off Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough this afternoon.

Man City loanee, Bersant Celina had given the Blues a half-time lead with a sumptuous free-kick, but Lucas Joao levelled from the penalty spot early in the second-period having been fouled himself in the box.

Goalkeeper, Harry Wright did well to keep out a Connor Kirby effort soon after, but Tom Adeyemi, who played 80 minutes, came close, only to be denied by a tremendous save from Owls' stopper, Cameron Dawson.

With the game looking as if it was going to end in a stalemate, Folami broke through the home defence and found the net, sealing three points for his side on the road.

Town: Wright, Crowe, Woolfenden, C. Smith, Webber, Rowe, Adeyemi, Celina, McLoughlin, Morris, Folami.
