Young fan lends his hand at reporting

Blues fan Ashley Colbourn was on hand at the recent Town open day to lend his hand at reporting, after winning a competition with local newspaper the Ipswich Star. The young Blue, who eventually wants to become a journalist, enjoyed the day at Portman Road and compiled the following report of his day:

*These are the views of Ashley and not necessarily those of Ipswich Town FC*

Ashley's report:

At the recent Ipswich Town open day, I had a great time being a junior reporter. I had this opportunity as I won an Ipswich Star competition. The day started off with me sitting in the Co-op stand, watching the first team squad train and taking in the atmosphere. The players started off with lengths of the pitch which was shortly followed by stretches. They then moved onto being split into two main groups, a pass and move session for the outfield players whilst the ‘keepers worked separately. Later on in the day there was a session taken by Paul Jewell and a crossbar challenge.

Once the session finished, there was time to walk about the stalls and displays on the field turf. Then it was time for my interview. I was taken to pitchside where I met Andy Drury. He was very nice and I enjoyed doing my mini interview. After this, I got some of the players’ autographs at the autograph signing session. Later, I met Ipswich star reporter Dave Gooderham, who allowed me to sit in on an interview with Scott Loach that he was doing. This was a great experience for me.

Overall I had a very good day and I am extremely thankful to the football Club and the Ipswich Star. (And the weather was good, which always helps!)
