Last two results should act as a wake-up call, says Paul

Paul Jewell said that Town need to learn to do ‘the ugly things’ after seeing his side knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Carlisle.

Massimo Luongo gave Town a first-half lead before the Cumbrians hit back in the final minute of normal time and then again in extra time to win the tie.

“We have to do the things that good teams do- scrap, fight and do the ugly things that get you through games and seasons,” Paul told the Club website.

“This isn’t an easy place to come to. For the first-half we were in control but goals change games and we weren’t ruthless enough tonight.

“We haven’t got enough players in the group to see those games out.

“We need some power and bite in the team. You think you’re making progress and then the game becomes a bit physical and not as pretty as it should be.

“People have been saying some nice things about the players but the last two results are a wake-up call for them.”
