SELECTION HEADACHE FOR PAUL

13 August 2012

International call-ups see Town without trio

Paul Jewell admits he has been left feeling frustrated, after seeing his preparations for Town’s first game of the season disrupted by outside influences.

The trio of Damien Delaney, Josh Carson and Ronan Murray will all miss Blues’ Capital One Cup first round tie with Bristol Rovers tomorrow, after receiving international call-ups.

“We could have done without losing Damien Delaney, Josh Carson and Ronan Murray to international call-ups,” Paul admitted to the Club website.

“That is a real frustration for us in terms of our preparation for tomorrow’s game and I can never understand why there are international fixtures scheduled for this week.

“Ideally we would have liked a clear run going into the season- for managers and players alike- but for some reason we seemed to have dropped an international game into this week and I’m not sure who benefits.”
