Ryan returns to Tynecastle with best wishes from Town

Paul Jewell says he fully understands the reasons why Ryan Stevenson cut short his stay at Portman Road.

The midfielder, who arrived from Hearts in an 18 month deal last January, has rejoined the Tynecastle club after Blues agreed to terminate his contract.

“Ryan is a smashing lad and he goes with our best wishes,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“We liked having him here but he’s got a baby and I think his wife was finding it hard to settle in the area. Family comes first and rightly so.

“He wasn’t playing as much football as he would have liked either and we may look to bring in another midfielder so when the opportunity came up for him to return to Scotland, we didn’t want to stand in his way.”

Stevenson, who has signed a three year deal at Hearts, made 13 appearances for Town, scoring one goal.
