BLUES IN OPTIMISTIC MOOD

14 December 2012

Mick looking forward to Elland Road clash and has Nigel Reo-Coker available for selection following injury

“Leeds beat Palace, Leicester and Huddersfield before losing to Derby last week and they are good results against some of the top clubs in this division,” Mick told Ipswich Player.

It’s a clash of two form teams in the division with the Elland Road club winning three of their last four Championship games and the Town boss is relishing the challenge.

Mick McCarthy says Town will go into Saturday’s game at Leeds in optimistic mood, with Blues looking for a fourth successive win.

Subscribers to Ipswich Player can watch the full interview with Mick in our matchday preview show, Kick-Off, with the Town boss welcoming new Blue, Tyrone Mings as well as recalling his days as a team-mate alongside the ‘much older’  Neil Warnock.

“It looks like he has a virus and that makes him doubtful for the weekend.”

“Luke looked like he was going to be fit after getting over a calf injury but he went home poorly on Wednesday.

“Nigel was back training at the start of the week and he is fit now,” added Mick.

Town should welcome back Nigel Reo-Coker, who has recovered from a hamstring injury but Luke Hyam is a doubt.

“They are a big club and it’s always a difficult place to go, Elland Road, but we will go there in optimistic mood.”
