Mick wishes Tyrone a speedy recovery

Mick McCarthy says it’s a blow for everyone that Tyrone Barnett has had to return to Peterborough after being ruled out with a knee injury.

The 27-year-old striker sustained a cruciate ligament problem while playing for a Town X1 in a friendly against Nike Academy on Monday and is expected to be sidelined for three months.

Tyrone, who is on loan at Portman Road from Posh until January, has gone back to his parent club who will oversee his rehabilitation.

“Tyrone’s injury is a blow for us, a blow for Peterborough but most of all, it’s a blow for the player,” the Blues’ boss told the Club website.

“We wish him well and hope he recovers quickly and successfully.”

Any possible move to extend the loan or bring Tyrone to Town in a permanent deal will have to be put on hold, with Mick adding: “The most important thing is that Ty gets his rehab and gets fit again and that is going to take time.”
