Defender set to stay for season but no deal for Billy

Danny Higginbotham is set to stay on loan at Portman Road until the end of the season.

The defender’s current deal from Stoke runs out on December 31 but Mick McCarthy has told the Club website that the former Manchester United player, who is 34 tomorrow, will be extending that stay.

“Danny is staying with us until the end of the season,” said the Town boss.

“I know he was disappointed when I left him out of the side but he’s been terrific in his support of the other players.  He’s a vastly experienced player and we’re delighted to have him here.”

Billy Mohsni, whose loan deal from Southend, also runs out at the end of 2012, will not be staying at Portman Road though.

“He’s a lovely guy and has got some good attributes but he simply wasn’t going to get in my team. He goes with our best wishes,” added Mick.

Mohsni has made five appearances for Town, all as a substitute.
