HAPPY TO TAKE POINT

22 December 2012

We were nowhere near our best but fair result says boss

Mick McCarthy conceded his side were nowhere near their best and he was happy to take the point from the draw against Bristol City.

Tommy Smith cancelled out Neil Danns’ opener for the visitors, who created the better chances in the first-half.

“It was probably a fair result in the end. We could have lost it but we could have won it,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“We didn’t start the game well and struggled to contain them. They played well to be fair and I was happy to get them in at the break all square.

“We were better in the second-half and had chances and opportunities to create chances but in the end we were nowhere near our best and I’ll take the point.

“That’s the positive out of the game, that we got something out of it but it’s going to be a battle all through the rest of the season. I’ve said that from the first day, we are going to have to scrap all the way to the end of the season.”

Daryl Murphy is a concern for Boxing Day’s visit to Charlton after taking a knock.
