Mick's return to Wolves earns praise from both sets of fans

Mick McCarthy admitted it was a special win for him after watching Town deservedly take the three points at Wolves.

Goals from Aaron Cresswell and DJ Campbell gave Blues a second successive victory in what was Mick’s first return to Molineux after leaving the midlanders in February.

“I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t a special win for me,” said the Town boss.

“It was quite an emotional moment, getting applauded by the home fans before the game and as we came off the pitch at the end.

“That will be my overriding memory of what most Wolves fans thought about me, rather than the last memory I had which was leaving by the back door because they wouldn’t let me leave by the front. I didn’t like that!

“I don’t think anyone could say we didn’t deserve the win. The players were excellent. They put a real shift in and it could have been three at the end with Chops having that chance.

“It’s been a good few days for us and it’s nice to be looking up the table but there is a long way to go yet.”
