Striker praises the form of Burnley hitman Charlie Austin but insists Town are well prepared to handle him

DJ Campbell has praised the work of Burnley striker Charlie Austin- but insists that Blues will be well prepared to keep him quiet when the two sides meet at Portman Road on Saturday.

Austin, who like DJ has progressed through the non-league circuit into the football league, is the Championship’s top marksman with 20 goals in all competitions to his name already and will provide a stern test for the Town defence.

“He’s doing a good job for Burnley and he’s banging the goals in at the minute,” said DJ, in an exclusive interview for Saturday’s matchday programme.

“He sort of burst on to the scene at Swindon and has carried on that good form with Burnley, so he’s certainly one we will want to keep quiet at the weekend.

“He’s another great example of a player coming through the non-league structure, which highlights how strong the non-league circuit is these days.

“With the form he’s in you have to applaud him and show him respect, but we have had him and his team-mates watched and we will be well prepared for the game.”
