Goalscorer delighted with late show as Campbell strike sees Blues record first home win of the season
Daryl Murphy praised the character of his Town teammates, after Blues recorded a first home win of the season by beating Burnley 2-1 t Portman Road.
Mick McCarthy’s men won the game thanks to a late strike from DJ Campbell, after Daryl’s opener for Town had been cancelled out by Sam Vokes.
The victory represented a first win on home soil since March, with the last home win being against Barnsley thanks to a strike from today’s goalscorer Daryl.
“It’s a real feeling of joy more than anything to get that first home win,” Murph told the Club website.
“We’ve been waiting a long time for that, especially at home and I thought we deserved the win today and that a draw would have been a little harsh on us, considering the way we’ve played.
“There was a real sense that we weren’t going to lose today. In recent games we’ve conceded late goals but today I thought we showed a lot of character and fully deserved the three points.”
