BOSS BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED

6 October 2012

Equaliser knocked the stuffing out of us says Paul

Paul Jewell was left bitterly disappointed after seeing his side slip to defeat despite taking the lead for the third successive game.

DJ Campbell gave Town a first-half lead, rather luckily with the ball coming off his hand but a brace from Heidar Helguson saw Championship leaders Cardiff leave with all three points.

“I thought we were the better team in the first-half and deserved the lead, even through the ball has gone in off DJ’s hand,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“Their equaliser knocked the stuffing out of us for while though. It was the manner of the goal more than anything.

“Scott [Loach] has accepted responsibility for both goals. Everyone makes mistakes but we are paying for every one we make at the moment.

“We can’t get that second goal either. Jet created a great chance for himself but shot over the bar and that’s been a problem for us, we are not taking the chances that come our way and that’s why we are where we are.”

Paul was pleased with the contribution of both DJ and Richie Wellens, who were making their debuts after joining on loan during the week.

“They both did well and will be better for the game. They need game time inside them,” added Paul.
