Paul happy with display at the Amex though with special praise for the skipper

Paul Jewell was disappointed that Town couldn’t hang on to the lead as the points were shared at the Amex Stadium.

Daryl Murphy’s first-half header was cancelled out by Will Buckley’s close range finish 11 minutes from time as Town were pegged back for the second successive game following the 1-1 draw at Barnsley at the weekend.

“When you are a goal up, you are disappointed not to leave with the points,” said the Town boss.

“Brighton are a good team and they have a way of playing that is difficult to stop but for long periods we stopped them.

“We kept our shape, counter-attacked well, especially in the first-half. We should have been two up early in the second-half as well, their ‘keeper making a great save from Daryl Murphy.

“They had a lot of pressure but I think we dealt with it very well, not just the back four but the players in front of them.

“Carlos Edwards in particular was exceptional for us and we have shown in the last two games that the spirit is there. We just need that victory and we will be on our way.”
