Town U21s 3 Barnet 2

Jack Marriott fired Town to victory with a hat-trick after Blues twice fell behind.

Rhys Taylor, on trial at the Club, was called into action early on and produced a great save to his right to prevent George Sykes' header going in from a corner.

Barnet threatened from set-pieces and got the opening goal 10 minutes before half-time with the ball being knocked down from a corner to captain, Jon Fortune, who hit the ball in from close range.

Four minutes later and the scores were level with a poor header from Jamal Hachet allowing Marriott a one on one opportunity which he dispatched with ease.

Within 10 minutes of the second-half Barnet were ahead again with poor defending making it easy for Jamal Lowe to pass the ball back to an unmarked Iffy Allen on the edge of the box who found the net.

Town drew level again just after the hour mark when a goalmouth scramble finally saw the ball fall to Marriott who fired in for his second of the game.

Town won the game in the 90th minute with Marriott scoring from a deflected Byron Lawrence shot to complete his hat-trick.

Meanwhile the U21s' game against Colchester scheduled for Monday, October 8 has been postponed.
