Defender spoke to former Blues Walters and Collins prior to move

The 33-year-old defender has joined Blues from Stoke until October 23 and made his debut for the Club as a last minute substitute in the weekend defeat by Charlton.

Danny Higginbotham says he would definitely look at extending his stay at Town beyond a month’s loan.

Speaking to Ipswich Player, the former Manchester United player said: “We have to see how things go but if the opportunity was there to extend the loan then I’d definitely look at it.

“Being left out of the 25 man squad by Stoke made the decision to go out on loan easier because I’m not really a player who wants to sit around and pick up my wages.

“The most important thing for me is to play games and Ipswich have given me the chance to do that.

“I spoke to Jon Walters and Danny Collins, who have obviously both played here and they spoke highly of the club and I’m delighted to be here.”
