BLUES HEAD TO BARCA

8 April 2013

Support from Dyer and local partners sees Town youngsters take on Spanish giants

Town’s U13s have flown off to Spain to take on the mighty Barcelona thanks to Kieron Dyer and the generosity of four local organisations.

Former Blue Dyer, along with Chelmsford Plastic Warehouse, Elite Renewables, WS Finance Consultants Ltd and Suffolk New College have combined to sponsor the four day trip which will see the Town youngsters play Barca and fellow Spanish club Espanyol in friendlies.

“There is obviously a significant cost involved with a hotel stay and travel and Kieron kindly offered to contribute heavily to the trip,” Town Academy manager Bryan Klug explained to the Club website.

“His son plays for our U13s.  He has been with us this season and they are a good group. It will be a terrific experience for them to come up against Barcelona – and it will also be a great learning exercise for our coaches.”

The youngsters and staff will also be taking in a visit to the Nou Camp, where they will look around one of the most famous stadiums in world football.

Town Academy sponsorship manager, Simon Milton, added: “It’s a fantastic trip but without the generosity of Kieron and Chelmsford Plastic Warehouse, Elite Renewables, WS Finance Consultants Ltd and Suffolk New College, it wouldn’t have happened. It’s as simple as that.

“Receiving that kind of support is vital for our Academy to prosper.”
