Luke impressed by Blue Army backing

Luke Chambers believes the support shown by the Blue Army this season deserves to see some success in the near future.

Close on 22,000 fans watched Town clinch a place in the Championship for the next campaign with a 3-1 win over Birmingham on Saturday, a fifth victory in eight games.

A majority of those fans stayed behind after the final whistle as Mick McCarthy, his staff and the players took part in a lap of appreciation for that support.

“We were walking around and I said to some of the lads then, imagine what this place would be like if we could bring some success here,” Chambo told the Club website.

“It was a terrific atmosphere during and after the game - and we’re 11th in the league. What would it be like if we were at the top end of the table?

“We’ve had our disappointments this season but the fans stayed with us. They are passionate, very loyal and deserve success and hopefully we can build on the momentum that has built up under the gaffer and give it a real go next year.  There is certainly a good buzz about the place now.”
