LUCKY BUT WHO CARES

6 April 2013

Quality winner gives us huge three points says boss

Mick McCarthy conceded Town nicked the win at Derby – but he couldn’t care less!

Scott Loach saved a penalty from Jamie Ward and Conor Sammon hit the post for the home side who had the better chances until Carlos Edwards conjured up a brilliant winner in added on time.

“They were better than us. We nicked it, we know that but that’s the Championship and I couldn’t care less. We got the three points and that’s all that matters in the position we are in," said the Town boss.

“We didn’t play well and got lucky but there was nothing lucky about the winning goal. It was a moment of real quality from Carlos.

“Scott did well with the penalty save. They have missed a few lately and he has been studying their penalties so he deserves a lot of credit.

“They had other chances but we fought our corner well and it was a huge win for us in the end.”
