Mick praise for towering Tommy as Blues open Championship account
Two own goals and a towering header from Tommy Smith saw Blues to a first win of the season, with Ryan Tunnicliffe going close to adding to the scoreline late on in his first appearance for the Club.
“It was a tough game, a typical Championship match with both teams looking difficult to beat,” the Town boss told the Club website.
“It was a moment of quality by Cressy that led to the first goal – I know it’s an own goal but it was great work by Cressy that made it.
“The second was a terrific header. Tommy is a head it, kick it defender and he has embraced that. He’s been great for us and is a threat in the air. I would have been proud of that goal as a centre-half myself.
“The three goals put a gloss on it. I would have been delighted with any win but to score three and keep a clean sheet, that’s a nice way to win a football match.”
