Disappointed Mick concedes Stevenage shaded it

Mick McCarthy conceded Stevenage deserved their place in the next round of the Capital One cup.

A penalty from Filipe Morais and a close range Jordan Burrow finish gave Boro a 2-0 win, with Blues also losing Jay Tabb to a shoulder injury.

“The players aren’t happy with the penalty decision but players rarely are,” said the Town boss.

“I haven’t seen it so will reserve judgment but the second goal was a bad one to give away.

“We looked like we might get back in the game before that. We had chances and I’m disappointed we didn’t score. I’m disappointed we lost a game of football.

“I have to give Stevenage credit though. They played well and overall they probably deserved to win.

“We will have to wait and see how Jay is tomorrow. His shoulder is not dislocated and he thinks he might have got away with it but we will see.”
