McGoldrick confident in his goal-scoring ability and welcomes the competition for places at Town

David McGoldrick believes the competition for places at Town is bringing the best out of the squad.

The striker has started both of the Blues’ League games this season alongside Daryl Murphy, with Frank Nouble and Paul Taylor both breathing down their necks for a starting berth- something the former Nottingham Forest man welcomes.

“We’ve got good competition for places, as we’ve got Frank Nouble and Paul Taylor champing at the bit to take mine and Murph’s (Daryl) place in the team,” Didz explained to our official YouTube channel.

“Having Tayls back has been like a new signing and he’s looked sharp in training. It’s good to have that competition as it keeps everyone on their toes and can only benefit the team.”

Didz is yet to open his account this term, although highlighted his eye for goal in pre-season with a number of well taken strikes.

However the forward has been pleased with his performances and is confident that the goals will come for him.

“I’m confident that the goals will come for me, even though I haven’t scored yet this season,” added David.

“Overall I’ve been pleased with my performances and I want to keep my place in the team.

“I should have scored on Saturday against Millwall. I tried to take it around the ‘keeper when really I probably should have had a shot earlier.

“But I know the chances will come for me and I was happy with my return in pre-season.”
