Mings eyeing up Middlesbrough at home next month as the date for his return from injury
Tyrone Mings is aiming to be back in contention for a place in the Town squad by September 14, when the Blues welcome Middlesbrough to Portman Road.
The defender, who yesterday penned a new two-year contract with the Blues, injured his medial ligament against Reading on the opening day of the season and admits it has been a frustrating time on the sidelines.
“There’s never a good time to get injured but when you’ve done so much work in pre-season, it’s a real shame to then be out for two months after playing just one game of the season,” Tyrone told Town’s official YouTube channel.
“At the time I didn’t have a clue how serious the injury was and I remember telling the physio that I’ll run it off!
“Obviously at that point I had no idea that I had a slight tear in my medial ligament and I ended up playing on it for around 70 minutes against Reading.
“I’ve started rehab now though and I’m aiming for around the 14th of September to be back fit, as I’ll imagine I will still need around two or three weeks before I’m back to full match fitness.”
