Mick delighted with striker and Hunty additions

Mick McCarthy has told the Club website that it’s a real coup for Blues landing Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to the end of the season.

The 27-year-old striker was interesting a number of clubs before signing a deal with Town that will keep him at Portman Road until the end of the season.

The deal sees Sylvan reunited with Mick, with the Town boss signing the frontman from Plymouth when he was in charge at Wolves.

“It is a real coup for us because there were plenty of teams chasing him,” Mick told Ipswich Player.

“He scored something like 45 goals in 18 months when we were at Wolves and certainly in this league, he is a top striker.

“I know he’s been out injured for a while but he’s back in training now and hopefully he will be ready for first-team action in a couple of weeks.

“Signing him and Hunty [Stephen Hunt] for the rest of the season is a good bit of business and we’re delighted to have them with us.”

Stephen is Town’s only injury concern ahead of Saturday’s game against Watford. Kick-off against the Hornets is 3pm.
