Mick happy with point as Town head into new year in top six

Mick McCarthy felt it was a fair result after watching Town take a point from the visit to Bournemouth.

Blues finish the year in the Play-Offs places after Daryl Murphy’s seventh goal of the season had been cancelled out by Brett Pitman.

“It was a very good point and a fair result in the end,” said the Town boss.

“We scored a terrific goal. It was a great ball in from Frank and Murph deserved to get on the end of it. He was excellent for us.

“They gained the momentum after they scored and we had to dig in and we did that and I’m happy with the point.

“We’re on a good run with seven games unbeaten and we’ve just got to look to keep that going, starting with Charlton on Wednesday.

“It’s nice to be in the top six and we have to keep doing our best and see where that takes us.”
