Mick happy enough with point against Watford

Mick McCarthy was happy enough with the point against Watford and saw the performance as an indication of the progress Blues have made over the last year.

David McGoldrick scored his ninth goal of the season with a penalty to give Town the lead but Troy Deeney levelled 10 minutes from time.

“We could have won it and with our second-half display, perhaps we deserved to win it,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player.

“Even after their goal we had a great chance when Luke Hyam hit the bar. It probably would have gone in if he didn’t have an egg shaped bump on his head after a collision in the first-half.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t win it but we could have lost it right at the end so I’m happy enough with the point.

“That’s 11 points from 15, so we keep ticking over. They battered us here last season but that wasn’t the case today. That shows you the huge strides that we have made since last year.”
