Mich happy to see changes come off as Town clinch back to back wins

Mick McCarthy felt Town deserved the win after seeing three of his changes to the starting line-up provide the goals in the 3-1 victory over Blackburn.

Luke Hyam, Carlos Edwards and Frank Nouble were all on target after returning to the team as Blues followed up the win at Charlton on Saturday with another three points.

“It’s nice when it comes off,” joked the Town boss to Ipswich Player.

“We had to freshen it up. It was a tough game against Charlton and I wanted new legs in there.

“We have been badgering on at Luke about taking a chance, not making that pass but having that shot at goal. If you don’t shoot, you don’t score so I was delighted for him.

“Carlos took his goal really well. It would have been easy for him to just swing at it with his left foot and Frank got his goal at the end.

“He didn’t have a great first-half but he was much better in the second and was a handful for them.

“They finished the first-half stronger and I had a few choice words to say at half-time but we were better in the second-half and overall we probably just about deserved it.

“We didn’t play that well, nor did they but we’ve ground out back to back wins and we haven’t done that very often.”
