Midfielder pens extension to short-term deal to remain at Portman Road until the end of the season

Stephen Hunt has penned an extension to his short-team deal, by signing a new contract to stay at Portman Road until the end of the season.

The midfielder originally joined the Blues in November on a ‘pay as you play’ short-term deal, making his debut as a late substitute in the win over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

His original deal with Town was set to expire in the New Year but his contract has now been extended until the end of the season.

“It goes without saying that I’m delighted to be staying at Ipswich Town,” Hunty told the Club website.

“When I first came here it was to get my foot in the door so to speak, to see how I got on with the Club and how the Club got on with me.

“I think I’ve played okay and the manager has shown faith in me. Now I have to improve and show that I merit that longer deal.

“I’m very happy to stay here as I feel really settled and hopefully we can crack on now and push for the top six.”

An exclusive interview with Town's number 12 is available in full on Ipswich Player now.
