Didz delighted with the mood around Portman Road and believes the happy environment is paying dividends on the pitch

David McGoldrick believes the close-knit spirit within the Town squad has helped the Blues climb up the table.

The striker, Town’s top scorer for this season, was on target again at the weekend, as Mick McCarthy’s side came from behind to beat Huddersfield at Portman Road thanks to Daryl Murphy’s late winner.

The victory ensured Town recorded their third victory of the week and helped the side move to within two points of the Play-Off places, with Didz left in no doubt that the happy environment around the Club playing its part.

“There’s a good bunch of lads here and the spirit is fantastic around the place,” the former Nottingham Forest man told the Club website.

“Even when I first arrived here on loan in January, the mood in the camp was superb and we were fighting relegation at that point.

“We’ve added good characters and Hunty [Stephen Hunt] is another example of that. He’s an experienced guy, he’s chirpy around the place and he’s slotted in really well with the boys.

“The gaffer and TC [Terry Connor] have created that environment. Obviously we are all serious and down to business when training and on matchdays but they like to have a laugh around the place as well and it’s just enjoyable coming into work every day.

“Obviously the results have helped and we’ve just got to keep pushing on now.”
