Berkane on target but Bees provide sting in the tail

Amir Berkane was on target for Town but Brentford recovered to take the points.

Blues started the game brightly, carving out their first opportunity when Berkane played George Clarke through on goal but the striker dragged his shot wide.

Lewis Lavender did likewise at the other end with Brentford’s first opening and the visitors would have gone ahead but for George Fowler, who blocked Montell Moore's shot on the line.

Blues took the lead seven minutes after half-time when Cemal Ramadan flicked the ball on for Berkane, who placed his shot into the bottom corner.

George Clarke came close to doubling the lead but he fired wide from six yards after being set up well by Ramadan.

Brentford got the equaliser they deserved though when Moore scored with an individual effort and 18 minutes from time they clinched victory. Seth Owens got on the end of a long ball, beat Fowler and tucked his shot into the back of the net past Jacob Marsden.
