25 February 2013

Town agree deal with Premier League side Manchester United to bring defender Reece Brown to Portman Road on loan

Town have agreed a deal to sign Reece Brown on loan from Manchester United, subject to the relevant paperwork being ratified.

The defender, who is the younger brother of Sunderland man, Wes, will join up with Mick McCarthy’s side and remain at Portman Road until the end of the season.

The 21 year-old, who has been capped at youth level by England, took in a loan spell at League One outfit Coventry earlier this campaign and has also spent time at Oldham, Bradford and Doncaster.

“This is a big challenge for me and I’m excited to be signing for Ipswich,” said Reece in an exclusive interview with Ipswich Player.

“It’s a big Club with great facilities and I’m looking forward to meeting all the lads and getting started.

“I’ve played here once before- in an U15 Academy showcase game for United- so it’s nice to be back here again and I’m ready to try and prove myself at Ipswich.

“I’m still only 21 and getting experience at a Championship Club like Ipswich is good for me and it’s all part of my education.”

Reece will wear the number 21 shirt during his stay at Portman Road. Subscribers to Ipswich Player will be able to view a full and exclusive interview with the new Blue later today.
